Nobody pays us to write about Croydon and no organisation in the borough has any say over what appears here. The ground we cover runs from Norbury, Thornton Heath, South Norwood and Upper Norwood in the north, through central Croydon, Selhurst, Broad Green, Waddon, Woodside, Addiscombe and Shirley, down to South Croydon, Sanderstead, Selsdon, Kenley, Purley, Coulsdon and New Addington.

The idea

Croydon gets written about a great deal and recognised very little. We would rather be dull and correct than quick and wrong, so the site is built on the public record and on the reference pages residents need at short notice. No syndicated filler, no stories about the borough written by people who have never been to New Addington.

Method

We take our facts from Croydon Council’s papers, its planning and licensing registers, police.uk crime data, Food Standards Agency inspections, The Gazette and official alerts, and we link to each one. Figures are quoted as the source gives them, never rounded up for effect. Where the record leaves a question open, we say that it does.

Tips and corrections

If you know about something before we do, tell us: hello@croydontoday.co.uk. Tips are treated in confidence. If we have made an error, use the same address and we will correct it and note the change on the page.
